Through many of her books, Peggy teachers kids about homonyms and figurative language. *The idea of Amelia Bedelia came from interacting with her students at the Dalton School who took she said very literally. *Always finding ways to develop her writing, Peggy created the character Amelia Bedelia and published twelve books on her. *With the help of a child´s parent who was an editor, she came into contact with an editor at Harper who helped her improve as a storyteller. *Her first book published was My Golden Book of Manners published in 1961.
